Okay here's one for you , got told today that my engine was a Ford engine . I thought that all Galaxy diesels had VW engines could anyone clarify .

Yep all the diesels used in the Galaxy / Sharan / Alhambra are provided by Volkswagen :blink:

My wife's 2.8 V6 petrol has a big badge on top of the engine claiming to be 'Ford', but we know different don't we!

 

All Ford made was the badge!

Tried telling the garage this but they said no , will take it to someone else if they dont even know what engine is in it .

If they don't know the basics I would take it elsewhere too.

 

I have uses independent ford people before for my old escort but don't know who to take the gal to would an independent VW place be better?

 

Either would probably be better than the main ford dealers, although I took it in to have an air vent replaced which took almost two hours! Car came out with the sill they claim they did not bend when they did the cam belt straightened!

The 1.9 VAG Diesel has been used in every range of cars made by VW, Seat, Skoda and Audi for the last ten years. If this Garage doesn't recognise the Engine from the shape of the block it must call their competence into question.

I would have thought that with practically every part having VW stamped on it would have given the game away.. :(

Take it to a VW dealer, they will have dozens of 1.9 TDi powerd cars through thier doors every day.
